The 2021 IATSE strike was an aborted labor strike organized by the The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to demand better working conditions for workers. Initially the strike was scheduled for Monday, October 18th, but has been reportedly averted due to a tentative deal struck between the union and management.[1]

The agreement which pacified the strike threat contains the following concessions to the workers:

  • Achievement of a living wage for the lowest-paid earners
  • Improved wages and working conditions for streaming
  • Retroactive wage increases of 3% annually
  • Increased meal period penalties
  • Daily rest periods of 10 hours without exclusions
  • Weekend rest periods of 54 hours
  • Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday Holiday added to schedule
  • Adoption of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
