Earl Clark (died 1987) was a Memphis police officer and the assassin of Martin Luther King Jr. He was connected to crime boss Frank Liberto and was the most accurate shooter in the MPD. Before the assassination, he met with five other men at Jim's Grill in Memphis, owned by the former police officer Loyd Jowers.[1]
Assassination[edit | edit source]
Around 2:30 p.m. on April 4, 1968, Clark met with Mayor Henry Loeb, Police Chief Frank Holloman, and other police at a shooting range. He hid in the brush next to the Lorraine Motel along with Loyd Jowers. After the shooting Clark climbed a wall next to the motel and escaped in a vehicle.[1]
