Pepe Escobar

Pepe Escobar is a Brazilian journalist whose main column is called The Roving Eye, for Hong Kong-based Asia Times. He is also a frequent commentator on Russia's RT and Iran's Press TV. He writes regularly for Russia's Sputnik News, and has written many opinion pieces for Al Jazeera.[1]

Escobar has focused on Central Asia, Russia the Middle East, and Iran since the late 1990s.[2]

Escobar has reported extensively from Afghanistan. In August 2000, Escobar and two other journalists were arrested by the Taliban, and accused of photographing a soccer match.[3]
