Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic, is a country in Central Asia. In March 1991, 95.98% of the population voted to remain in the Soviet Union, but it seceded anyway in August of that year.[1] In 2013, 61% of the population said the overthrow of the USSR was bad for Kyrgyzstan and only 16% said it benefitted the country.[2]
