Edward Poindexter (1944 – December 7, 2023) was a Statesian political prisoner a member of the National Committee to Combat Fascism, an organisation associated with the Black Panthers, who was allegedly targetted by COINTELPRO. In 1970, he was arrested and tried for the murder of Larry Minard, an officer of the Omaha Police Department in Omaha, Nebraska. Although he always maintained that he was innocent, Poindexter was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison in 1971. He spent 53 years in prison, dying at the Nebraska State Penitentiary at the age of 79.[1]

Arrest and imprisonment

An anonymous 911 call sent police to an abandoned building where a bomb killed Patrolman Minad. The FBI accused Poindexter and Wopashitwe Mondo Eyen we Langa. The FBI withheld the audio of the call from the jury, which convicted both defendants. After the FBI interference, the Nebraska Supreme Court refused to overturn the conviction.[1]
