(Redirected from NYPD Red Squad)
The Bureau of Special Services and Investigation (BOSSI) is a squad of the New York Police Department modeled after the FBI. It infiltrated leftist organizations and spied on New Yorkers for decades.[1]
Assassination of Malcolm X
From 1957 to 1965, the NYPD and not the FBI was the main organization spying on Malcolm X. After Malcolm announced he was splitting from the Nation of Islam, FBI leader William C. Sullivan contacted the leaders of BOSSI and told them to recruit people to infiltrate the OAAU. Several BOSSI members were in the Audubon Ballroom when Malik was assassinated.[1]
