The Provisional Irish Republican Army was an Irish Republican military organization in Ireland. It was formed after the 1969 split in the Anti-Treaty Irish Republican Army[1] and operated until 1997, when it went on ceasefire during the negotiations for the Good Friday Agreement. It officially disarmed and dissolved in 2005.[2]
