Share Our Wealth was a movement that began during the Great Depression carried out by Huey Long, a governor and later US Senator from Louisiana.[1] Long was a populist[2] who first proposed the plan on national radio in what is now referred to as the "Share Our Wealth Speech."[3]

To stimulate the economy, the program called for massive federal spending, a wealth tax, and wealth redistribution but refused to do away with capitalism and private property. Roosevelt adopted many proposals in the Second New Deal.
