The Dominican Republic is a country in the Caribbean Sea located on the island of Hispaniola along with Haiti.
History
Juan Bosch became president democratically in February 1963. He called for land reform and nationalization of certain businesses. The USA removed him from power in a military coup in September. In April 1965, the United States sent 23,000 troops to put down a popular revolt that aimed to return Bosch to power.[1]
