"Each one teach one" is an African-American proverb. It has been adopted as a motto by many organizations.[1]

Its origins supposedly come from the system of chattel slavery in the United States. Slaves were denied access to education and literacy, and thus once one person learned these skills, it became the responsibility for them to teach others.[2][3]
