Life
Lê Duẩn was born on April 7, 1908 in Bich La in Đông Triều in the Triệu Phong district of the Quảng Trị Province. He was raised in the Cẩm Xuyên district of the Hà Tĩnh Province.[3] Lê Duẩn was one of the founders of Indochinese Communist Party in 1930. In 1960, he became the first secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, taking over from Hồ Chí Minh. He was the General Secretary of the Party for 10 years, receiving the position in 1976 and holding it until 1986.[1][4] Lê Duẩn's ideology helped to influence many choices made in the Communist Party. He helped to set the strategies used at the 6th Party Central Conference in November of 1939. He also aided in the development of the policies related to the revolution at the 2nd National Party Congress in February of 1951.
