A rent strike is when renters come together to refuse to pay their rent en masse until a specific list of demands is met by the landlord.

In 2021 Berlin lifted a rent cap, allowing rents to skyrocket. In response, 20,000 people participated in a rent strike and forced the courts to re-instate the rent cap.[1][2]
