The United States Africa Command, also known as AFRICOM, is a Statesian military command operating throughout Africa. It is designed to violate international law and self-determination of African nations. It is also used to protect U.S. access to African natural resources and limit China's involvement in Africa.[1]
AFRICOM claims to oppose terrorism, but Jihadist violence in Africa has increased since its founding. There has also been an increase in military coups by AFRICOM-trained soldiers.[2] During a Senate Armed Services Committee annual hearing on the AFRICOM's budget on 16 March 2023,[3] Statesian Marine Corps General Michael Langley revealed that they supported coups in Africa.[4]
History
President George W. Bush announced the creation of AFRICOM on February 6, 2007 and it became fully functional on October 1, 2008.[5]
In June 2022, AFRICOM conducted the African Lion exercised, which involved more than 7,500 service members. It was executed in Morocco, Ghana, Senegal and Tunisia. It involved military personnel from the United States, Brazil, Chad, France, Italy, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.[6]
