Ferdinand August Bebel (22 February 1840 – 13 August 1913) was a German socialist politician who played a key role in the leadership of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from its founding until his death. Bebel served as chairman of the SPD from 1892 to 1913 and was the last progressive leader of the SPD before its descent into revisionism and opportunism.
