James David Vance (born August 2, 1984) is a Statesian politician who has served as Vice President of the United States under President Donald Trump since 2025. Previously, he served as a senator for Ohio from 2023 to 2025.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Vance went to law school and then moved to San Francisco to work in venture capital firms connected to the tech industry. In 2017, he founded a company with one of the co-founders of AOL.[2]
Senate career[edit | edit source]
Vance's former boss Peter Thiel gave $15 million to his Senate run in Ohio in 2022.[2]
Vice presidency[edit | edit source]
Following a report by Politico revealing leaked Young Republicans internal messages, Vance, despite being married to an Indian-Statesian woman, was quick to defend the racism, antisemitism, sexism and praise for Adolf Hitler as them being just "boys".[3]
Political positions[edit | edit source]
Vance supports funding U.S. funding of Israel and aggression against China but wants avoid U.S. involvement in its proxy war in Ukraine.[2] His political positions have been influenced by Curtis Yarvin.[1]
