Leo Joseph Ryan (May 5, 1925 – November 18, 1978) was a Statesian politician and congressman who tried to limit the power of the CIA. In 1978, he went to Guyana to investigate the Peoples Temple cult. An assassin killed him with untraceable shattering bullets that were banned by the Geneva Convention and issued by the CIA during anti-Castro attacks. He was the only U.S. congress member ever killed in the line of duty.[1]
