This article is about the history and notable events that happened on ProleWiki. For a description of the wiki, see the About page.
ProleWiki is a free, collaborative Marxist-Leninist encyclopedia founded in September 2020 aiming to build an anti-imperialist proletarian online collection of pages and essays with information on history, current events, communist parties worldwide, and countries, as well as hosting a library of texts important to the international proletarian movement.
ProleWiki was first proposed as an idea on Lemmygrad. As of April 2024, ProleWiki is available in nine languages and has over 3,000 articles and almost 7 million page views.
One goal established for the project at the time of its founding was to make ProleWiki as self-sufficient as early as possible. An influx of new users in late 2022 led to democratic reforms, allowing editors to vote on account requests. Thus the administration is gradually moving closer to a mentor or guidance role, here to guide the editorship towards the goals set out by ProleWiki and measure adherence to the principles, as well as providing help and resources for setting up these editor projects. He studied legumes and cereals in order to expand the range where certain crops could be grown. His work was consistent with the discoveries of Darwin, Mendel, and Michurin and debunked August Weismann's claim that genes could only change by random mutations.
In the 21st century, discoveries in epigenetics have shown that environmental factors such as nutrition and stress can switch genes on and off. (Full article...)Lua error in Module:Random_portal_component at line 82: attempt to call field 'number' (a nil value).

Gennady Ivanovich Yanayev (26 August 1937 – 24 September 2010) was a Soviet politician who served as Mikhail Gorbachev's vice president (the only vice president in the history of the USSR) from 1990 until 1991.
Yanayev was instumental in the plotting of the 1991 August Coup, which had the goal of ousting the revisionist Gorbachev from office and rolling-back his policies. The coup failed however, and Yanayev was sentenced to prison. The Soviet Union was overthrown in a counterrevolution in December 1991, and Yanayev was eventually released from prison in 1994. He died from lung cancer in September 2010. (Full article...)Lua error in Module:Random_slideshow at line 38: attempt to call field 'main' (a nil value).
