The Zimbabwe African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) is a political party in Zimbabwe which has ruled the country since independence in 1980. It is a self-declared revolutionary socialist party which aims to create the conditions for Zimbabwean economic independence and a socialist society.[1] ZANU-PF's creation is the result of the merger between the Zimbabwe African National Union and Zimbabwe African People's Union, both of which were major revolutionary parties who liberated Zimbabwe during the Second Chimurenga.[2]
