African socialism is a pan-Africanist and socialist ideology or set of ideologies that believe in sharing economic resources based on "African methods" and/or based on a "African philosophy". There have been multiple conceptions of African socialism historically, with differing variants coming from many different theorists, leaders and revolutionaries. While African socialists are often easily classified as or are by self-description Marxists, specifically Marxist-Leninists, it is often not possible to categorize them unambiguously under that label. It heavily opposes capitalism, colonialism and imperialism.
