Don't Pay UK was a grassroots direct action movement in the United Kingdom that aimed to protest against rising energy costs, especially as energy became more important to survival as the winter of 2022 approached.[1] Signatories were planning on "striking" by refusing to pay their bills on October 1st if the UK government didn't act to protect citizens from rising costs. The planned strike did not go ahead due to the price rise from Liz Truss' government being lower than expected, possibly due to the group's pressure, as well as the group only reaching 200,000 of the 1 million target protestors.[2]
