Saddam Hussein (28 April 1937 – 30 December 2006) was an Iraqi pan-Arab bourgeois revolutionary who came to power with CIA backing, yet was ousted by the United States during the invasion of Iraq after he rebelled against his former puppet masters by setting out to pursue a nationalistic development strategy for Iraq. He was a notable figure in the Arab Socialist Ba'ath movement, representing its Iraqi branch.
Arrest and execution
The United States invaded Iraq in 2003 and captured Saddam. They organized a show trial against him and murdered three of his defense lawyers. Ramsey Clark attempted to defend him and expose the crimes of the U.S. imperialists. He was executed on 30 December 2006.[1]
