The New York Times is a Statesian bourgeois newspaper. It has historically supported U.S. imperialism and far-right governments. Before publishing its articles, The New York Times sends them to the U.S. government for approval.[1]
Criticism
Fascism
The New York Times praised Mussolini in an article from 1923.[2] It described the 1936 Olympics hosted by Nazi Germany as "perfect in setting" and "the greatest sports event of all time."[3]
Imperialism
The New York Times has supported several right-wing CIA coups, including Iran in 1953, Brazil in 1964, Chile in 1973, Venezuela in 2002, and Bolivia in 2019.[4] It promoted NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia in 1993.[5]
Racism
In a 2019 article, climate change denier Bret Stephens cited white nationalist and eugenicist Henry Harpending, who claimed that Jews have higher IQs because of their genes.[6]
