People's democracy is a political and economic system created by an anti-fascist people's democratic revolution. Unlike the one-party system of the Soviet Union, it relies on a multi-party coalition of democratic and anti-fascist parties led by a working-class party.[1] It existed in several states of the Warsaw Pact.
Revolution[edit | edit source]
The people's democratic revolution is a proletarian-led revolution with support from the peasantry and anti-fascist elements of the petty bourgeoisie and national bourgeoisie. Its first stage is similar to a bourgeois-democratic revolution. The victory of the revolution creates a democratic state that enables a further transition to socialism and the dictatorship of the proletariat.[1]
