Caucasus

The Caucasus or Caucasia, is a region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, that composes of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and parts of Southern Russia. The Caucasus Mountains, including the Greater Caucasus range, have historically been considered as a natural barrier between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. The highest mountain that's located in the Western Caucasus's would be Mount Elbrus in the Russian Federation. While on the southern side the Lesser Caucasus includes the Javakheti Plateau and the Armenian Highlands, although part of the region is located in Republic of Türkiye.

The Caucasus can be divided into the North and South Caucasus, although the Western Caucasus can be considered a part of the Northern Caucasus. The Greater Caucasus mountain range that's located in the North is mostly shared by the Russian Federation and Georgia (country) as well as the northernmost parts of Republic of Azerbaijan. While the lesser Caucasus mountain range in the south is occupied by the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Azerbaijan, and Georgia (country) although some parts of the mountain range extends into northeastern Turkey, northern Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Artsakh.

The region is known for it's huge linguistic diversity and those include the Indo-European and Turkic language families as well as the Kartvelian, Northwest Caucasian and Northeast Caucasian language families.
