Elamkulam Manakkal Sankaram Namboodiripad (13 June 1909 – 19 March 1998), commonly known by the initials E. M. S., was an Indian communist and former Chief Minister of Kerala. He criticized the caste system for limiting progress in India and said it enabled the British colonization. He noted that many feudal forms of exploitation continued in post-independence India.[1]
