Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information. This may be done on the basis that such material is considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or "inconvenient". Censorship can be conducted by governments, private institutions, and other controlling bodies.

Imperialist censorship

Pro-Sandinsta accounts were shut down prior to the 2021 general election at the behest of US-based social media apps.[1] Danny Haiphong of the Black Agenda Report has reported in MintPress News has characterized censorship as the "last gasp of the liberal class"[2]

Circumvention

Big tech social media censorship can be circumvented by using alternative social media sites. Censorship of URLs can be circumvented by using a trustworthy proxy network or the Tor Browser.[3]
