In 2022, there is an ongoing food crisis that is resulting in high inflation in food prices and increased food insecurity and hunger.[1][2] In the United States, the wheat crop was affected by a dry winter and a soggy spring which has diminished the output severely.[3]

Responses
The bourgeois capitalist-imperialist governments have limited tools to respond to the food crisis without violating their "free market" principals.[4] In response to government neglect, citizens have begun taking matters into their own hands, by creating community gardens, community kitchens, and other decommodified means of meeting their material needs.
The socialist world directs its production in line with the needs of its citizens, which allows for greater food security. Examples of this is China's state-directed advances in food technology, such as the invention of rice that can grow in saltwater. [5]
