Howard Zinn was a Statesian historian and activist most known for writing A People's History of the United States.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Zinn was born in New York City in 1922 in a Jewish proletarian family. His father was from Russia and his mother was from Austro-Hungary. He became a socialist after police attacked him at an anti-austerity protest during the Great Depression. He joined the Air Force during the Second World War. After the war, he became an anti-war activist and organized against the U.S. invasions of Vietnam, Latin America, and Iraq.[1]
