Islamophobia is hatred of Islam or Muslims. It has been widespread in the West since medieval times, when European kings fought crusades with the support of the Pope to distract from domestic conflicts. In modern times, Westerners insult Islam or Muhammad or burn the Quran in order to justify the USA's imperialist wars against Iraq, Afghanistan, and other Muslim countries. The EU and Sweden allow burning the Quran, but Russia has banned it.[1]
