The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China opened on 16 October 2022 in Beijing with 2,296 delegates representing over 96 million party members. General Secretary Xi Jinping pledged to improve the people's quality of life and increase income for the working class.[1] He also said the CPC would strive for reunification with Taiwan and lead all ethnic groups to make China a great modern socialist country.[2]
