Alienation is the process whereby people become foreign to the world they are living in.[1] It is more common in capitalism than in other economic systems because workers do not control the product of their own labor.

As a consequence of wage-slavery, alienation of labor occurs when people have no choice but to work in a job they absolutely despise because it is not something they enjoy doing. Therefore, they have no connection to it and in some cases don't even know the purpose of their job but are forced to do it or they will be without food, water, transportation, shelter, and most importantly, healthcare.
