Jordan Bernt Peterson is an Canadian clinical psychologist and public speaker who gained prominence in 2016 by lying about the contents of a bill put forth by the Liberal Party of Canada.

Anti-communism

Peterson is a persistent anti-communist. He willingly conflates postmodernism with Marxism despite their incompatibility.[2] According to Peterson, these "postmodern neomarxists" have infiltrated college campuses to indoctrinate young minds with "resentment-ridden ideology" that will "undermine western civilization".[3]

Peterson has admitted that his only experience with Marxist theory is him reading the Manifesto of the Communist Party. The only other source of knowledge on the subject is the book Explaining Postmodernism: Skepticism and Socialism from Rousseau to Foucault by Stephen Hicks, a book with many scholarly errors and misreading of various philosophers.[4] The limits of Peterson's knowledge regarding Marxism was brought to the forefront when he had a public debate with compatible left thinker Slavoj Žižek where he misrepresents the short pamphlet he claims to have read.[5]
