The Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), formerly known as the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), is an Islamic extremist organization founded in China. It organized its first attack in Baren Township in Xinjiang on 1990 April 5. In 2002, the United Nations designated it as a terrorist organization. It was also recognized as a terrorist organization by China in 2003 and by the United States in 2004.[1]

Syrian Civil War

Since 2012, the ETIM/TIP has been participating in the Syrian Civil War. In 2015, it settled in Idlib Province in Syria, near the border with Turkey.[1]
