The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Spanish: Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela, PSUV) is a democratic socialist political party formed in 2007 which came to replace the Fifth Republic Movement. PSUV was formed from the merger of some of the various leftist political movements, organizations and social forces that supported Hugo Chávez and the Bolivarian Revolution. PSUV is now the largest political party in Venezuela, as well as the 11th largest in the world, with more than 7 million active members as of 2014. The party adheres to Chávez's Chavismo ideology.
