Who paid the piper? The CIA and the cultural Cold War is a book published in 1999 by British journalist Frances Stonor Saunders. The book details how the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) covertly funded thousands of books, academic works, artistic movements and intellectuals in an anti-communist propaganda effort.
