Ṣīḏqīyyāhū (618 BCE – after 586 BCE), anglicized as Zedekiah, was the last king of Judah. Nabûkudurriuṣur II of Babylon appointed him as king after defeating his predecessor Yəhōyāqīm in 597 BCE. However, Ṣīḏqīyyāhū began a rebellion against Babylon with support from the Egyptian pharaoh Wahibra. Nabûkudurriuṣur defeated the Egyptians and besieged Jerusalem for 18 months. After taking the city, he captured Ṣīḏqīyyāhū and his nobles.[1]
