Commie is a derogatory term used for insulting other people, accusing them of supporting communism. This terms applies to all ideologies, as communism in western definitions is not well defined. The usage of the term "commie" was widespread during the Red Scare especially by Joseph McCarthy who was the creator of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC). HUAC was created by Joseph McCarthy to investigate U.S. citizens who were accused of having communist ties.
