Hexbear is the largest communist Lemmy instance, with over 1,400 monthly users. It is similar to Lemmygrad but is dedicated to left unity instead of Marxism–Leninism.[1] In August 2023, it federated with Lemmygrad and nine other Lemmy instances.[2] Lemmy.world, the largest Lemmy instance, blocked Hexbear from federating and also threatened to defederate with Lemmygrad.[3]
Demographics
According to a survey in 2024, at least 41% of Hexbear users are transgender and at least 52% of users use non-binary pronouns.[4]
