Hyon Chol-hae (13 August 1934 – 19 May 2022) was a Marshal of the Korean People's Army. He was born in Japanese-occupied Korea and studied at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School after the Korean Revolution. He served as a bodyguard for Kim Il-sung during the Fatherland Liberation War and worked at the Central Committee after the war. He assisted Kim Jong-il and upheld Songun during the Arduous March.[1]
