The Solomon Islands, also known simply as the Solomons, is an archipelagic country located in the Melanesia region of Oceania. It is adjacent to Bougainville to the west, New Caledonia and Vanuatu to the south-east, Fiji, Tuvalu, and Wallis and Futuna to the east, and Micronesia and Nauru to the north. The Solomons consist of six major islands and over 1,000 smaller islands.

The United States is currently supporting ROC-aligned separatists in Malaita Province led by Daniel Suidani.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Independent[edit | edit source]

The Australian military took control the Solomon Islands between 2003 and 2017.

In April 2022, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare signed a security agreement with the People's Republic of China. The United States and Australia both threatened to invade the Solomon Islands.[1]
