Thomas Noguchi (born 1927 January 4) is a retired coroner of Los Angeles County who performed autopsies on Marilyn Monroe and Robert F. Kennedy after their assassinations in 1962 and 1968, respectively.[1]

Marilyn Monroe[edit | edit source]

Because of political pressure, Noguchi did not report a bruise on Monroe's hip. He determined that Monroe died from barbiturate poisoning and that the poison was only in her blood and not in her stomach, meaning it was injected. He only took toxicology counts on her blood and liver and ignored other organs.[2]

Robert F. Kennedy[edit | edit source]

Noguchi concluded that all three shots that hit Kennedy came from behind at point blank range, possibly with the gun even touching his body. The fatal bullet entered his head behind his right ear.[1]

Trial of Sirhan Sirhan[edit | edit source]

Sirhan's mafia-connected lawyer Grant Cooper cut short Noguchi's testimony at the trial of Sirhan Sirhan, the alleged assassin. The trial did not admit his autopsy report as evidence. The SUS unit of the LAPD tried to make him commit perjury and suspended his license when he refused.[1]
