The word "riot" implies that this event was ad-hoc or otherwise trivial. Seeing as how this event was likely at least somewhat thought-out by a number of far-right extremist groups, and how many of the people who were involved in this event had intentions of using militant force to overturn the election results, and even kill or arrest government officals, the terms "insurrection" or "coup" would be much more fitting a title.
