The Donetsk People's Republic (DPR or DNR; Russian: Донецкая Народная Республика) is a separatist state of limited recognition, located in the Donbass region in the eastern Ukrainian Oblast of Donetsk.[1] Despite its suggestive name, it is not a socialist state.
Due to the colour revolution called Euromaidan that led to the rise of fascism in Ukraine, Russian minorities have been persecuted and this has resulted in the separation of Crimea and the founding of two separatist states in Donbass.
In 21 February, 2022, Russia signed a decree recognizing the independence of both DPR and Luhansk People's Republic.[2]
