Korea is an area of East Asia consisting of the Korean Peninsula and nearby islands, including Jeju.

History

From 1910 to 1945, Korea was occupied by the Empire of Japan.[1] After Japan surrendered, Korea was divided in half and the southern part was occupied by the United States, while an independent socialist state led by Kim Il-sung was created in the north.
