Azerbaijan, officially the Republic of Azerbaijan, is a country in the Caucasus. In September 2023, Azerbaijan attacked the independent Republic of Artsakh, leading its president, Samvel Shahramanyan, to announce its dissolution by the end of the year. Azerbaijan annexed the region on 1 January 2024.[4]
