Silvia Federici (born 1942) is an Italian-born scholar and Marxist feminist living in the United States. Her most famous work is Caliban and the Witch. She presents her analysis as a break from traditional Marxism, although classic Marxist works such as The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State also analyze patriarchy. Her work focuses on medieval Europe and the transition from feudalism to capitalism, and she views bourgeois revolutions as counterrevolutions that subjugated women.[1]
