The RESTRICT Act is a proposed law in the United States that would censor internet content connected to "foreign adversaries" of the US. Countries that would be affected by this act include China, Cuba, Iran, People's Korea, Russia, and Venezuela. The bill includes a punishment of a $1 million fine and/or 20 years of prison.[1]
The reasoning behind the act is that digital content from these countries may pose a threat to the national security of the US, though this excuse and the act itself have received widespread bipartisan criticism.
