Smedley Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940) was a Statesian general who described himself as "a gangster for capitalism." He invaded China, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua to protect the profits of U.S. corporations.[1]
