Nationalization (within the socialist mode of production) is the process whereby the control over the means of production and agriculture is shifted into the hands of the proletarian state and the entire working class in accordance with the dictatorship of the proletariat.
Nationalization under capitalism[edit | edit source]
Nationalization of the means of production under capitalism, has been often employed during times of war or economic crisis by the state, in order to combat the inefficiencies of the anarchy of production during these periods.[1] It has also been employed by social-democratic governments, where the bourgeoisie grants concessions to the working class in order to placate revolutionary sentiment.[2] These concessions are often revoked as soon as revolutionary sentiment begins to die down.[3]
