BadEmpanada is an Australian-Argentine YouTuber. He makes long-form video essays about history, settler colonialism, imperialism, Latin American politics, and other topics[1] from a communist perspective. BadEmpanada also has a stream clips channel and a Spanish language channel.
Criticism
Behaviour
On stream he often engages toxic behaviour, including involving himself in petty drama between content creators[2][3] (although he has since stated that he would like to avoid petty internet drama in the future)[4], making unsubstantiated claims,[5] engaging in "debate bro" behaviour such as reductio ad absurdum[6], and promoting misinformation.[7]
BadEmpanada has also celebrated the doxxing and subsequent retirement of BayArea415 from the internet. He questioned whether BayArea415 was "really at risk" after fascists revealed his identity.[7]
Criticism of AES
BadEmpanada blindly criticises AES projects such as China calling it "capitalist", "imperialist" and "communist in name only."[6]
Pro-imperialist talking points
In 2024 BadEmpanada opposed the democratically elected anti-imperialist government of Venezuela, siding with the zionist[8] opposition instead.[9] He also chose to support the 2024 color revolution[10] in Bangladesh.[11] His video criticizing The Grayzone has earned the approval of notorious anti-communist and Bellingcat-founder Eliot Higgins.[12]
Strawmanning
In a video about supposed 'Chinese imperialism', BayArea415 stated that he preferred not to throw around terms like 'backwards' or 'underdeveloped' in reference to Third World countries and showed a clip from Michael Parenti's famous "Yellow Lecture" explaining why.[13] BadEmpanada took this as Bay quoting Parenti out of context in order to defend China, when this was not at all the case. BadEmpanada then proceeded to quote Parenti criticising China.[6]

Trending Now! Network (2021-09-04).: "'Is China Imperialist?' Comrade Report/Bay Area 415 REACTION & WATCH ALONG". YouTube."By the way, I don't really like the term 'underdeveloped' or 'backwards country' [...]. As this is more of a historical or Marxist terminology of explaining overexploitation from capitalists, I really like how Michael Parenti explains it here."
